Groei for Plant & People

Groei for Plant & People

At Roobeek we grow a conifer from a cutting to a mature plant. We help our plants where possible, but in the end they do the growth themselves.

At Roobeek we grow a conifer from a cutting to a mature plant. We help our plants where possible, but in the end they do the growth themselves. At Roobeek, we not only find it important to help and guide conifers in their growth. We believe that we also have a social duty to help and guide people in their personal development and growth. We like to help people who need some extra guidance, for example due to a mental or physical disability.

The ‘Groei for Plant & People’ quality mark stands for a nursery that considers it important to do more than just what is strictly necessary. A nursery that, in addition to delivering high quality, also wants to have broad public support. Growth for Plant & People’ indicates that not only do we give our plants the necessary equipment to grow, but that we also guide and help people who need it to develop themselves.

The Roobeek Nursery employs some 55 people who are distant from the labour market. These employees are seconded from WAA Groep Venlo. We think it is important that, in addition to our conifers, these employees can also grow. We use them in a wide variety of ways at the nursery. For example, they can cut, pot and prune plants at our nursery and they also prepare the plants for sale. In addition, they are also used to carry out work for third parties, for example to help with the cutting of rose stems.

The deployment of employees at a distance from the labour market is a win-win situation. Everyone needs meaning and no one likes to sit at home. However, not everyone is able to work a full working week. That’s why at Roobeek we look at each individual situation separately and adjust the activities and times accordingly. This means that some employees work a few hours a week and others a full-time week. To this end, the wishes and capacities of the employee are carefully examined.

Roobeek Kwekerij has about 55 employees with a distance to the labour market. These are seconded from WAA Groep Venlo. In addition to high quality, Kwekerij Roobeek also has a large social base.  We offer these people a place to work, but also to learn a lot. At our nursery, but also at external nurseries and horticulturists, they learn the tricks of the trade. Roobeek stands for growth for both plants and people.
